Sherlock Holmes by JAF-Artwork Sherlock Holmes by JAF-Artwork
Robert Downey Jr. is Sherlock Holmes.

Freehand Drawing
Pencil on Paper

17x14 cm

I love crime stories with awesome twists, and amazing intellectual characters like the first ever amazing and brilliant fictional detective of all time Sir Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes".

I've been a fan of RDJ ever since I was a kid and when finally he awesomely made Holmes to life I fall in love with him all over again!...

This is amazing. I hope one dy I could draw portraits like this I am only on my third attempt of a portrait so I have a ways to go though I don't think they are so bad so maybe one day I'll get this good. Anywho I was looking for pictures of th bb sherlock and came across this and had to click it because it is so good. If you haven't seen Sherlock you should watch it It's brilliant. Anyway I got off track. Great Job!

Thank you so much!!! just keep practicing you can be better than me... I believe that... passion + inspiration is all it takes...

Yeah I've seen all the episodes... A Scandal in Bohemia is the best episode... I'm a fan of the book so I'm not really attached with series twists coz I've read it so I'm more of a critic. hehe. But what i really like about the series is the timeline... Sherlock in this generation... I love it...I gave them thumbs up for that! hehe...
Although RDJ played sherlock perfectly well for me more humour and action, but I love benedict as sherlock too... He did a great job, and Bilbo.. I mean Martin played Watson very well...hhaha... I love the series... but I love the movie more... hehe...

Thanks again my friend...

I need to draw more it just seems like ther isn't enough time or that I should be spending it doing other things. I have read several of Doyles Holmes stories, although not all of them. What I like being a fan of the stories is that Moffat and Gaitiss are absolute fanboys of the origional stories and though they change minor things and have it set in the present time they are true to the stories. Many of my friends havent seen it and I am having a bunch of people over over to watch the first season. I'm anxious to see peoples oppinions. I like the movie, but I love Sherlock. I like the different things they bring to the same character, but I feel as far as the books go Sherlock is a closer adaptation. Benedict and Freeman are both great actors as are Jude Law and Robert Downey Junior. Both adaptations are good. The third Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law movie should be coming out later this year.

You're right... it's really difficult to manage time when you're drawing a subject coz you have to give everything and love the subject enough to surrender your hours to perfect it.

Yeah I'm very excited for the third film!!! I love RDJ and Jude Law playing Sherlock and John....

Yeah. Then when I do draw something it takes me a while to actually put it online. Next I'm planning on drawing a portrait of John Simm - the Master on Doctor Who if you watch that show. I will probably one day draw the characters of Sherlock. I need to practice drawing people. I have only drawn two portraits. They are on my page if you could go see them and give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to the next movie too.

I saw your drawing 'Amelia meets amy' Although I'm not familiar with your subject but it's a good drawing... I think you're better than me when I did my first portrait... The eyes are good, the face is perfectly proportioned... I love the hair too...
First the shading. I think it's really good. But if you use tissues soft, smooth and thin tissues to smudge or shade I think your shade will be perfect.
Second. Kneaded eraser is so important if you want to lighten up the the dark shades if you don't have a 2H, H or F pencil to meet different kind of shade.
Coz in pencil drawing shade is very important if you want your portrait to be realistic. Coz for me the secret is the shading technique that you will develop during practice.
Last. Use the darker shade of pencil 8B 7B or 6B for the darker area like Pupil or, lines like hair strands or eyebrows, and Regular Eraser to highlight the white or light areas like bridge of nose, Sclera or white of the eye. Then add some of the detailed part.
I never had or attend any art class or something so everything is really based on my experience hehe so I'm not really familiar with professional techniques hehe...
Anyways Your drawing is really Good... Trust me. My last advice is how do I start my drawing... some would start with hair or face but me.. I always Start with the Eyes... I believe Eyes are windows of the soul and when I capture the Eyes of my subject see them look back at me it's like I'm actually drawing them for real... then Everything follows...

Anyways Hope this Helps!!!

Thank you so much for the advice!! I think this is the first comment on anything I've done thats more than one sentence. Both girls are the same character older and younger on Doctor Who. It's a really good show overall even with a few plot holes and some bad episodes. I have the different kinds of artist pencils, I just haven't really used them yet. I always just draw with a mechanical pencil. I need to learn how to properly use them and actually do it. I'll try to do the things you suggested in my next protrait. Again thank you so much for the critique. Could I copy and paste it into the coments on that picture so I know for sure where to find it later and look back if I ever get btter?
