Sold to The Vintage Church Bristol United Kingdom

This will be the hardest painting I've ever done. Painting every details I've gone through psychological, emotional, and spiritual exhaustion. There were times I was crying while painting his wounds particularly his bruised right eye. That's why it took me weeks and weeks to finally finish the wound details cos I can't focus for more than two hours with nothing but all these shades of red I used for blood. It takes a lot in me. My journey of painting the wounds of Christ caused me sleepless nights. When I started painting his eyes I wanted it to look like He is actually looking at you, talking to you. I wanted you to see what I saw. I saw my sins flashed before my eyes. The kind of monster who crucified Him. Who caused every blood He shed. The monstrous doubt, hate, lies, greed. We have our own monster inside us. There will be times that you'll have to face it. And I think I did. Though it will always lurk in the darkness of my despair but I have the courage to face it now if I ever encounter it again. I saw my soul's journey, the pain and happiness I felt along the way. The down fall and the rope to keep holding on.

The reason I painted the face of the wounded Christ is for you to see your own sins and find redemption, your fall and find courage, your pain and find peace. The courage to carry your own Cross. When I first read the old testament I feared God. I was scared of him. Scared to face him for I will die. I know I'm not worthy enough to see his blinding light. But when I saw the Passion of Christ 11 years ago everything changed. I painted a picture of Jim Caviezel as Jesus in the movie Passion of Christ.  A film by Mel Gibson. A picture perfect film. Sometimes words just penetrated our brains and leave without our permission. But a picture stays longer and can produce a thousand other words. The movie Passion of Christ opened a lot of windows to see your very soul. To have a glimpse of your own true reflection. To summarize your journey and the roads you've taken since. With a question are you one of the people who cried for Yeshua? Or are you one of the people behind the crucifixion? Some people see it as a violent film. I don't. That film awakened my sleeping heart. I cried like a baby watching that film. It only shows who Jesus really is. Yes I do love seeing pictures of smiling Christ but sometimes we needed to see His pain to wake up.

Jesus carried and died on the Cross to define the word Forgiveness. He created the word Sacrifice. He offered us Hope. He simply explained the unexplainable, irrational, unseen connection we call Love. When we talk about God's wrath and his commandments I feel nothing but Fear. When we mention Jesus name I feel nothing but Love. From the Strict God of the old testament Jesus introduced me to a Loving and Forgiving God.

I forgot, and yet He remembers. I walked away, and yet His footsteps says that He carried me. I thought He left, and yet His fingerprints are all over the place. I bargain, and yet He gave me both. I'm not perfect and yet He embraces me. We are sinners, and yet He forgives.

For us Artists Painting is an adventure and this wonderful adventure is now painted in one of the story-telling-canvas of my soul.

This is my journey of looking into the eyes of Jesus Christ. To feel his pain and to find some comfort in the light of his eyes.

It's been months after the day I sat down with a blank canvas and a paint brush. I didn't even know I could paint it. Painting every details and fabric of the Passion of my Savior never meant to pleased anyone who will see it. Because this is not about me or my techniques. This is about the one who saved you and me. My struggle became my adventure. Painting it I was reborn as an Artist. Looking at it saves me every single day. Now it's hanging on a wall thousands of miles away. It's now part of (The Vintage Church) The Book of Luke Asphalion Art Exhibition in Bristol United Kingdom. Hoping it will heal more wounds like it healed mine.

To all your wonderful, heart-melting comments,
I don't know how to thank you guys enough.
I had trouble figuring out what is Daily deviation. I'm ashamed to say it took me hours to figure out what it means.
Anyway, for all the comments honestly I cried while reading some of them. It's a powerful feeling I can't explain. It's beyond amazement. Reflecting the same tears and pain as mine is more than I can ask for. Knowing you can see what I saw, you can feel what I felt fulfills the very core purpose why I painted this portrait. Thank you for letting me. Thank you for walking this same road with me. Thank you for crying with me. I wish I could kiss the very fabric of the soul of every single one of you. May you have a Blessed Journey my friends. May it be an awesome one. It maybe painful? yes but it's worth the pain. I hope The light in Jesus eyes will give comfort underneath that pain. A love we can never see with our naked eyes. Just remember... You are Loved.

Daily Deviation

Given 2015-02-05
The Passion of Christ by JAF-Artwork

"Besides being technically brilliantly executed the amount of personal pain transferred from artist to the painting itself is huge. This work is personal journey for the artist, who deviated significantly from their usual medium, thematic and style to deliver brilliant, compelling work. Facing ones own sins, regrets and transgressions while painting something like this is definite to leave a mark. This work is also seeking for redemption for the artist, as well as journey of understanding ones own faith. There is seeking for forgiveness, to lighten ones soul, there is a pain one has to bear. There is hope and promise of redemption." ( Suggested by SandraPelly and Featured by MidnightExigent )

I'm at odds with this one, my compliments on your craftsmanship as it is well painted, but I suffer to acknowledge Christ depicted in such abundance of gore, one needn't be sacrilegious to the image of the Lord to imagine the suffering- these types of images glorify an excessive violence not appreciated in the Gospel or any serious follower of the faith...
To make matters worse, you have depicted Our Lord doing the closed eye image, which has serious Satanic complications (Illuminati, Crowley, Monarch/MK Ultra, Thelema, etc...)- I think it's important for serious artist's wishing to portray religious figures to at least have the most basic understanding of iconography and semiotics before tripping all over the original intent of the art.
Other than that, good job- carry on!

I hope you find time to read my description my friend. To see the truth and my journey of painting this portrait. And I pray you'll find peace in the end. Don't confuse yourself with symbolism for I suffered the same when I first educate myself about The Illuminati but I've learned that it's all about the truth and intention. This painting is a mere portrait of His Passion, His Truth, His Love for you and me... May you have a peaceful Journey my friend..

No, the :icontriangleplz: is not about Truth or Good Intentions. It's about buying/selling souls and serving paganism/satan. Their path is a path of destruction. Do not be deceived, for they are dedicated to falsehoods and are driven by evil.

Christ is the ONLY Truth, and only those who know Him understand what Good truly means, for God is GOOD. And it is from Him alone we are able to do Good. Just how it is Written, we are able to Love because He first Loved us; even so, we are able to do Good because He first did Good to us. But without God, all "love" ideas are shadows/illusions, and without God no one can be Good or illuminate what Good is.

Do not be deceived. Be as wise as serpents and as harmless as a dove, for you are as a lamb sent forth into a world of wolves.

God bless you. Repent, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

What I meant to say some people are just exposing this secret organization. That is the intention I am pointing. Some are saluting and selling their souls but some are exposing and fighting them. My intention for this truth is to share my journey of finding Love in Jesus nothing more. Don't overanalyze things that you sometimes mistaken for their symbol cos that's what they do...to confuse us... This portrait is merely base on a true passion of christ by Anne Emmerich who suffered all the stigmatas. Please do read my description for this portrait my friend. Bless you.

I'm really glad I stumbled upon this. Although it hurts, it's unimaginable. It's so malicious and obscene what happened to our saviour. But he made the great sacrifice.
I think you really captured the essence of his pain, his sacrifice for those that he loved. The main thing about this picture that strikes me though, is the description you made about how you found it difficult to paint this masterpiece. I understand completely and in no way is it your fault. This fills me with love as I can acknowledge many of the things our Lord Saviour has endured for US! God Bless for this magnificent piece of art!

Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us. Yes. I am including your description in that "all of this". As a painting, it is beyond beautiful; as a soul-forging journey, it is totally worth every moment of it. Thank you for letting me know you are walking this same road with me. As you said, just remember... you are Loved, and He never leaves us to be alone. A Blessed Journey to you, too, my new-found sister.
